Solar Electricity system...
The owner of this house in Puente Palo was looking for a full system that would meet their needs for an ample electricity supply.
As the property is very remote, John wanted to ensure that the solution would enable him to run everything and anything all year round. This included not only household appliances, but construction equipment as well, such as concrete mixers and power tools.

What we did for John...
To achieve John's needs, we installed a 1 kWatt photovoltaic power supply, based on an 8 panel system. This was linked up to 1500 Ah batteries and a 3,3 kWatt sinewave inverter. The output from this system should more than meet the high demands and will provide a good steady power supply all year round.

Solar Hot Water System...
Barrie had been using an inefficient butane hot water system for quite some time and was unhappy with the results and the costs.
What Barrie was after was an unobtrusive system that would provide ample hot water for a house that could at times have a number of guests staying and who could have reasonably high demands on the hot water system.
What Barrie did not want was a number of panels on his root which would have a negative impact on the character of the property.

What we did for Barrie...
To fulfil these needs it was decided that a two collector, 300 litre Solahart system would be installed and that the collectors would be unobtrusively placed within a side garden to the rear of the property. The size of this system would also ensure that there would be plenty of hot water at all times. Should there be the odd occasions (and in the Alpujarra region we do mean odd) when there is not enough sun to drive this system, a backup system (electric immersion heater in the Solahart tank on night tariff) can be used to supplement the hot water supply.

What Barrie had to say...
After years of running a butane-fuelled hot water system I was encouraged to investigate solar power by the continually rising price of gas. Solar Hydro Solutions surveyed my house and garden and identified a site for a double solar panel solution. Comparing their quote to the anticipated future costs of butane convinced me to go ahead. Installation took only two days and was completed efficiently since when we have had a constant stream of hot water with the unexpected benefit of improved water pressure.
