Solar Powered Electricity...
We install stand-alone photovoltaic systems in the range of 12 Volt 250 Watt to 400 Volt three phase 50 Kilowatt, with generator back up possibilities.
For every situation or application we can offer a solution and all systems are custom made for your requirements.

Who can benefit from Solar ...
The most common assumption is that people only use solar generated electricity when there are no other sources available. This can either be due to the remoteness of the home, or the prohibitive cost of getting the local electricity generator to provide a feed to your home.
Whilst in the past this assumption was almost always true, this is not the case now. Solar can provide a very economical solution for running a whole house, or can be used to compliment a current electricity supply.
You can talk to our engineers about what systems would be best for you and how they can integrate seamlessly into your current set-up. We can install economical systems that will reduce your need for grid electricity providing savings when there is plenty of sun, but still allowing you to benefit from grid electricity at other times.
Added to this, you can also look at our options for Solar Hot Water which again will compliment your current energy sources.

Why go Solar Electric...
With the ever increasing price of fuels these days, and the decreasing price of electronics, the payback period is now far shorter than it ever was before.
Take a quick look at the map below to get an idea of the amount of sunshine that this region gets on an annual basis and you soon see why you are in the best place to take maximum advantage of the free resources available to you.

What is a Photovoltaic Panel...

There are a number of types of panel, and if you are really interested in in-depth detail you can go to a number of places on the web to find out more about the types of panels available and how they work. A good starting place is:
Photovoltaic Details
For the rest of us, the basic concept is that photons from sunlight hit the panel and this energises electrons in the panel causing a DC voltage to be generated. This electricity can then be converted to AC power (as is common in houses supplied from the main grid) for use around the house. It can also be stored for later use when the sun is no longer shining.

What other things can I use Solar for...
Solar electricity has a number of other uses over and above the standard "power my household appliances" functionality that it is normally used for. In addition to this, you can:
- Run under floor heating
- Heat swimming pools and external buildings
- Run pool pumping / filtering systems
- Irrigate dry land above your water supply
Speak to our team for more information or to discuss other requirements that you might have. We can design and construct most systems, no matter how bespoke they are.
And a few extra applications:
- Emergency power backup (protection against catastrophes)
- Pumping systems for drinking water
- Telecommunications (mobile phone networks, booster stations, etc)
- Mobile solar units for remote construction projects.
These are just a few examples of what can be achieved with a little design and planning. |
So why do we need Batteries...
To ensure that your property has power throughout the night as well as during the day, there is a need to stockpile the power in a set of batteries. When our engineers calculate the requirements for your house, they will work out the size and the amount of batteries needed. We always try to ensure that the capacity of the batteries will never leave you in the dark even on the dimmest of days....

And what is the inverter for again...
The voltage that is produced by the panels is a DC voltage and is the same as the way it is stored in the batteries, the problem is that for all your household electrical's, you need a much higher AC voltage. That is what the inverter does. It takes power from the batteries in a DC format (normally 12 or 24 volts) and converts it to 220 volts AC that is needed for lights and equipment in your house.
