Update: The Tesla has arrived...

The new Tesla has been delivered and the installation is now complete. The car has now been successfully connected to the system that powers the house and all is functioning as expected. As soon as the registration of the vehicle is complete, it will start taking to the roads of the Alpujarras and beyond.

SHS bring the first 100% electric sports car to Spain

A Solar Hydro Solutions installation, that already supplies all the energy needs of a large house in the South of Spain, is about to have a new mouth to feed. The addition to the family is a Tesla Roadster and is the first to be imported to Spain.

This car is probably the fastest production sports car that is fuelled solely by electric, and the specifications are quite staggering. You can take a look at the Tesla Motors' own web site for a full description of the car and its capabilities.

The car is due for delivery at the end of March 2010 and SHS will be working on setting up the required infrastructure to ensure that there is an ample supply of power to keep the car on the road. The installation that will run this vehicle, along with the needs of the property, is made up of a combination of Solar Photovoltaic and Hydro generated electricity. This is combined with a large battery bank constantly maintaining a high reserve of energy for less sunny days.
